Dr.
Boyd Wagner was raised on a Berks county farm with animals of all
species! He earned his BVMS degree from the University of Glasgow,
Scotland (James Herriott's alma mater) in 1985. He is also a member
of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). He is interested
in wildlife education and the treatment of exotic animals, and has
a special interest in veterinary surgery. Dr. Wagner still lives on
that farm with his family, and 3 cats, 4 dogs, 2 horses, and a rabbit
(at last count!).
Dr.
John Hampson is a native of Bethlehem, PA. He earned his VMD
from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979, and has practiced
veterinary medicine for more than twenty years. His clinical interests
include both canine and feline internal medicine. Dr. Hampson resides
with his wife, son, and 2 cats in a mountain home.
Dr.
Stephanie Becker grew up in Delaware County, PA. She received
her her Bachelors degree from Dickinson College and her VMD
from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Beckers specialty is small animal internal medicine.
She regularly participates in career days at local elementary, middle
and junior/senior high schools. Dr. Becker also provides tours
and programs at WAH to scout troops, elementary and pre-school groups
as well as working individually with students completing various
projects for school. In her free time, Dr. Becker enjoys spending
time with her husband Dan, their two children, Erin and Eric, and
their miniature poodle, Koa.
Dr.
John Melniczek grew up in Shillington and graduated from Governor
Mifflin High School in 1981. After receiving degrees from Beaver College
and Villanova University, he went to the University of Pennsylvania
and received his veterinary degree in 1992. Dr. Melniczek practiced
veterinary medicine for four years in Montgomery County until 1996
when he returned to the University of Pennsylvania to receive special
training in the areas of veterinary reproduction, pediatrics, and genetics.
While at the University he lectured to veterinary students, and researched
reproductive and genetic diseases in dogs and cats. Dr. Melniczek returned
to Berks County in 2002 to join the staff of the Wyomissing Animal
Hospital. Major veterinary interests include treating reproductive
and pediatric diseases of cats and dogs, and offering genetic counseling
for owners who wish to breed their pets. His major life interests
include his wife, Laurie, son Ethan, and daughter Kendra.
Dr.
Cindy Austin (nee DiBuono) grew up in South Philadelphia where
she always had at least one pet cat. She decided she wanted to be
a veterinarian at a young age and her dream came true in 1992 when
she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1994, a new
job brought her to the Reading area, where she has made her home
ever since along with her two cats, Angel and The Dude. The most
recent addition to her household is her new husband, Ray, who is
a CPA. They were married on October 4th, 2008.
Dr. Austin has been playing
the violin since childhood and has become very active in the local
music community. She has performed with the Reading Pops and Philharmonic,
local theater groups, and her church worship team. She also enjoys
reading, biking, playing piano, and gardening. Her veterinary interests
include internal medicine, dentistry, nutrition and dermatology. She
joined the WAH staff in February 2006.
Dr.
Erin Flannery is a native of Berks county and graduate of Wyomissing
High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from
Chestnut Hill College and her degree in veterinary medicine from the
University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Her special interests
include small animal internal medicine and animal behavior. She
currently resides in Wyomissing with her two greyhounds and two cats.
